08 SEP - Williamsburg, VA to Emporia, VA

This was basically a ride west to get out of the rain.

After holing up for a rain day, OJ happily picked up a Kmart rain jacket to continue the journey.

We started with a ferry boat ride west out of Jamestown, VA. Mike wisely picked back roads that pointed towards patches of sunlight.

Along the way, near Surry, VA, we saw a Country Ham store that shipped.

We tried their sandwich and OJ mailed a ham to friends Don & Gail back home in Rochester, NY.

The weather started drying out as we pulled into the Days Inn of Emporia, VA for the night. For dinner, we went across the street to a trucker's buffet: delish fried chicken, chopped steak/gravy, fried okra, fresh corn bread and peach cobbler [Mike sweet-talked the waitress into some vanilla ice cream].
