More moose, even at the US highway system's "End of the Road" (Rt. 1). That fluff in the water is from cottonwood trees.



Apparently Paris Hilton was also in Homer, Alaska.

29 JUN 07 - Seward, AK, on the coast

Caution: the entire coast sits on the earthquake-prone "Pacific Ring of Fire".

28 JUN 07 - North to Alaska

Mike and Bruce made it to Alaska! Then they left the Alaska Highway, southwest via the Tok Cuttoff for the Alaskan coast.



Halfway between Glennallen and Valdez (site of the big oil spill): early sunrise (4:30AM) at northern latitudes helps getting in a longer day's ride, but it's also 35F!

27 JUN 07 - Yukon Territory

Mike meets another moose and decides to milk it?

26 JUN 07 - Lots of Canada before the Alaska Highway

Had to roll northwest thru the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia before getting to the Alaska Highway (in red) starting at Dawson Creek.



After British Columbia comes the Yukon Territory and Watson Lake with the somewhat famous Sign Post Forest. To the right of Mike is his riding buddy, Bruce.

23 JUN 07 - Meeting Bruce in Montana

Near Glacier National Park.

22 JUN 07 - More Montana

Mike in the territory of the Blackfeet Nation, just like explorers Lewis and Clark in the early 1800s.



Choteau, MT has dinosaur digs and the 2700 acre vacation ranch of David Letterman.

21 JUN 07 - more Wyoming, crossing into Montana

Buffalo, WY: Dave and Sharon. Dave, Bruce and Mike started going to school together when they were 12. ** insert story here about one-room schoolhouse, walking to school, etc **



Raygate, MT: where cowboys rule and steers are nervous about "Montana Tendergroin".

19 JUN 07 - Wyoming

Douglas, WY, Home of the Jackalope.



Hole In The Wall Bar, Thermopolis, WY, "Where the Praire Meets the Mountains". Also one of the hideouts for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

17 JUN 07 - Goin' to Kansas City

Kendra, Mark and kids (the oldest born in the BVI). Kendra and Mark were dive instructors in Mike's BVI scuba operation, Sunchaser Scuba.





Possibly the last swim before chilly Alaskan waters.

15 JUN 07 - On the Road Again...

In the tradition of Willie Nelson or that 60's television series with Marty Milner, Route 66 is a great start for Mike's annual road trip.
